We are pleased to offer the Level 1 or 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering through the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance. These courses are suitable for anyone who works with food in their job roles – ideal for anyone working in schools, childcare settings, care homes, or establishments providing food and drink for the public.

 Level 1

This is a 3 hour introductory programme for those who are preparing to work in catering, or for those who do a minimal amount of food handling. The course covers:

  • An introduction to food safety and hazards

  • Microbiological hazards and controls

  • Contamination hazards and controls

  • Personal hygiene

  • Cleaning and disinfection

 

 Level 2

 

A 6 hour programme, which gives learners the knowledge necessary to follow effective food safety practices.

 

  • Introduction to food safety

  • Microbiological hazards

  • Food poisoning and it’s control

  • Contamination hazards and controls

  • HACCP from purchase to service

  • Food handlers and personal hygiene

  • Food premises and equipment

  • Food pests and control

  • Cleaning and disinfection

  • Food safety enforcement

 

Learning is assessed by a short multiple choice test. Passing this test gives candidates an accredited certificate with the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance.
